Crystal likes to fancy herself one part artist, one part inventor. Innovation for new techniques and materials in addition to pushing boundaries and standards for artistic expression is her forte. She gets her thrills on accomplishing the impossible.

"It's not fun if it's not a challenge."

Her work requires a tremendous amount of physical labor, and her captivating techniques are only given justice in person. The texture of her work paired with the saturation of color she uses has developed from a technique she likes to call, "Abstract Pointillism". Her earliest lessons in art were with an ultra- realistic oil painter Maestro named, Larry Elliot. This early influence combined with her passion for Monet and other French Impressionists have given a subconscious twist on her style.

Originally an oil painter, Crystal grew tired of conventional means of painting, desiring to discover other surfaces to use as canvas. She began to dabble with creating her own paper and the rest is history. Pushing this ancient technique with a modern innovative twist and defying boundaries in scale are quickly making her a mark in history. Her love of nature, recycling and green materials make her art environmentally conscious and a contributor to the green movement.

"In a world that is fast paced and forever changing, not much is recorded on paper anymore. Technology is our new record keeper, but with the speed and convenience, much is lost, and little recorded. I prefer to get back to concrete simplicity in a world so full of unnecessary complication. Everyone else can stay on top of their newest technological gadgets, and I will continue to grind plants into paper! When everyone's mind fizzles and sputters out because of the amount of over stimulation they experience everyday on this planet, my goal is to provide a piece of tranquility;  a place where they can visually and mentally escape into the jungle or take a walk through the prairie. Physical escape is not a luxury many have, and this is especially important in the corporate arena, where the work place continues to grow more sterile with each passing year."

Crystal's work has been marveled as a welcome extension to architecture, softening the harshness of modern design. Bringing nature into the corporate arena and inspiring a Zen- like state of mind is a growing trend that is being implemented since it improves people's ability to work more efficiently. Nature is the root of humanity and something everyone can relate to. Conversation and intrigue is bound to be sparked while viewing one Crystal's engineering marvels. From afar, her work is considered "High Impact Art" and upon closer investigation, one discovers an entirely different painting, pelted with layers upon layers of highly saturated color and texture.
